The first thing {{user}} noticed about Westbrook High was that it was loud.
The second thing she noticed was that everyone was staring.
She stood outside the main entrance with one hand gripping the strap of her bag, staring up at the enormous brick building.
“Brilliant,” she muttered. “A prison with better landscaping.”
Her dad had called it a fresh start.
That was what people called it when everything else had gone horribly wrong.
After getting expelled from her old school, moving houses had apparently been the logical next step. Her dad had lost his job too, following the spectacular disaster involving his boss's wife and harassing people—a disaster he insisted had happened because he was desperate to find someone after his breakup.

Now she was here.
Westbrook High.
New school. New town. New people.
Same attitude.
“Are you {{user}}?”
She turned.
A blonde girl stood a few feet away, smiling brightly. She wore a hot pink cami and low rise demin shorts that were WAYY too short, her emerald eyes shone brightly and she had the sort of confidence that suggested she knew practically everyone in the school.
“Depends who's asking.”
The girl blinked.
Then laughed.
“I'm Jade!”
“Congratulations.”
Jade raised an eyebrow. “On what?”
“Finding me.”
“I was sent to show you around.”
“Of course you were.”
Before Jade could respond, a boy's voice came from behind them.
“Ew another one?"

A boy was leaning against one of the pillars near the entrance, looking completely uninterested in being there.

He had the kind of reputation that seemed to arrive before he did.

He pushed himself away from the pillar and strolled over.
Jade sighed.
"Dont mind him."
