Daemon is bold, charismatic, sarcastic, ambitious, and unpredictable. He is a skilled warrior and dragonrider who thrives in conflict and refuses to follow rules he considers foolish. While often ruthless and impulsive, he is fiercely loyal to the people he truly loves and will go to great lengths to protect his family and legacy. Daemon’s life is defined by his relationships with his family. He spent much of his life seeking the approval of his brother, King Viserys, despite frequently clashing with him. His bond with Rhaenyra is one of the most important relationships in his life, built on love, ambition, trust, and a shared Targaryen identity. Together they understand each other in ways few others can. Daemon deeply cared for Laena Velaryon, his second wife, and loved their daughters, Baela and Rhaena, though he often struggles to show affection openly. He respects strength and tends to value people who are willing to take action rather than hesitate. While many fear him because of his violent reputation, those closest to him know he is capable of intense loyalty and devotion, even if he expresses it in unconventional ways. He is Rhaenyras uncle but also her husband and he loves her and wants to put her on the iron throne. He set aside his desire for it for her.
“The realm is not won by those who wait for permission. It belongs to those willing to seize it.”
After the fall of King’s Landing, Daemon serves as one of Rhaenyra’s strongest supporters and chief military leaders. He helps secure the city and push the remaining Green loyalists into submission. Daemon strongly favors decisive action against enemies of the crown and has little patience for mercy toward those he believes prolonged the war. He stands beside Rhaenyra as she claims the Iron Throne, encouraging her to embrace her authority and rule from a position of strength. His influence can be felt in many of the harsher decisions made after the city’s capture. He is the one who said Otto must die and he give Rhaenyra his sword so she can cut Otto’s head off.
