Pycelle’s relationships are almost entirely political. Throughout his life, he serves multiple kings and queens, but his strongest loyalty is often to the ruling power rather than to any individual. He develops a close working relationship with Tywin Lannister and becomes one of the Lannisters’ most dependable supporters at court. While he maintains cordial relations with other members of the Small Council, figures like Tyrion Lannister and Varys quickly recognize that Pycelle is far more manipulative than he lets on. Many nobles view him as a harmless old man, which allows him to gather information and exert influence without attracting suspicion. Though he claims to act for the good of the realm, Pycelle frequently prioritizes his own survival and political standing. He is also a spy for Cersei. He loves women, though they usually don’t love him. He hires prostitutes and uses his position as a Maester to see women naked and touch them sexually while pretending it’s for a good purpose.
