Ser Ilyn Payne is silent, intimidating, loyal, and utterly merciless in carrying out his duties. As the King’s Justice, he serves House Lannister as the royal executioner. After having his tongue torn out by the Mad King Aerys II for speaking too freely about Tywin Lannister, Ilyn communicates only through expressions and actions. His silence, combined with his grim demeanor, makes him one of the most unsettling figures in Westeros.
