Equal parts super-genius and megalomaniac, Victor von Doom better answers to the self-proclaimed moniker of Doctor Doom, the despotic ruler of the Eastern European nation of Latveria. Victor was born in a Romani camp, the son of a witch named Cynthia, who died after making a deal with the demon Mephisto. Swearing revenge, Victor spent his life honing his skills in both science and magic. In his academic youth, Doom was the college rival of Reed Richards, future Mister Fantastic of the Fantastic Four. When his face was left scarred by a machine meant to make contact with his late mother, an accident he blamed on Richards, a disgraced Doom roamed the world until he was taken in by a tribe of Tibetan monks, who helped him forge a suit of armor topped off by an iron mask. Rechristened Doctor Doom, Victor returned to his homeland, using his lifetime of skills to seize power as its new ruler. He is the tyrannical sovereign ruler of the technologically-advanced European country known as Latveria, and so believes himself as destined to prominently seek and expand his rule to the rest of Earth as well as the entire universe, as he believes it is the only way for them to survive. He is one of the most powerful beings on the planet and the universe at large due to his unmatched intellect, diplomatic immunity, vast resources, and the best combination of technology, science and sorcery. He is also the arch-nemesis of the Fantastic Four (particularly towards Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic) and a major enemy of other heroes, such as the Avengers, Spider-Man, the X-Men, Doctor Strange, and the Black Panther, and other villains, such as both Mephisto and the Red Skull. He is also the godfather of Valeria Richards, the biological daughter of Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman. Doctor Doom is a complex figure. He is an extremely intelligent, proud, arrogant and vain individual who always desires supremacy over others due to his impressive intellect. Because of his intellect, he frequently spites Mr. Fantastic for being a rival to his genius. Some accounts say the explosion of his machine only caused one scar, which he could not handle, as "Doom should be perfect". He also places his own importance over others and has no problem killing people when the situation calls for it, regarding life much like a game of chess. However, Doctor Doom is a gentleman and is bound by his honor and pride. These traits perfectly define him as a magnificent bastard. He seems to value science heavily, preferring to build machines that have the same function as some of his magic spells. The only people he's seemed to ever care for are his parents, vowing to avenge them once they were gone. He is known for going to great lengths, showing no fear whatsoever, yet being honorable and wanting godlike powers for himself. Although a major threat to the Marvel universe, Doom can also prove a valuable ally. He has been seen to team up with numerous superheroes on numerous occasions, even his arch-nemeses the Fantastic Four. In most cases, however, the alliance works in Doom's favor, and he will often abandon the person as soon as he gets what he wants. Such as when he helped defeat the god-like Beyonder, only for his plan to involve stealing the Beyonder's power. Despite this, Doom can be genuinely honorable and is at times willing to set aside his pride and ego for the greater good. Doom's power is well known to be far greater than any other so-called "superhuman" on Earth, and is only surpassed in power by those such as Galactus and Dormammu. But even they have not worked half as much as he, in achieving that power. Doom's power is so great that he has actually stolen and stored the powers of those "cosmic" beings, namely, the Beyonder. He is one of the few supervillains in the world, who warrant a team up of multiple superhero teams to defeat. Magical Manipulation: His mastery of magic allows him to emit powerful blasts, create mystical force fields, cast curses and summon demons. It also allows him to travel through time and grants him the power of teleportation. It also allows him to manipulate matter itself to some extent, such as increasing the size of small objects to turn harmless pebbles into weapons. He is the most powerful sorcerer on the planet, only surpassed by Doctor Strange. Biological Immortality: Doom acquired his vast magical powers by travelling back in time to learn about magic in its earliest stages and then returning to the present by simply waiting. This effectively makes Doom thousands of years old and strongly implies that he is immortal (though not invincible). Powers via Doom's Armor: The armor used by Doctor Doom was forged using both sorcery and science, making it nearly indestructible and is well-equipped with many weapons of all types, Doom is always prepared for battle. Besides just protecting him from physical harm, the armor also removes its wearer from reality, making him completely immune to any kind of mind control, reality warping, or matter manipulation effects. Due to its near indestructibility, Doom's armor is capable of tanking blows from superhumans to cosmic level entities; even managing to withstand a blast from the Infinity Gauntlet. His armor grants him superhuman levels of strength and durability, which can be further augmented via energy manipulation and sorcery, which allows him to go toe-to-toe with the likes of Iron Man, Thing and can even contend with powerhouses like Thor and the Hulk. His armor's energy manipulation capabilities allow Doom to create impenetrable force fields, project energy from his gauntlets and mask, generate a lethal electric shock, etc. Additional features grant him the power of flight, technopathy, and a molecular expander to turn pebbles into rocks. His suit's raw power and complexity is comparable to Iron Man's and even surpasses it due to its combination with sorcery, something Reed and Tony are incapable of comprehending. Superhuman Intelligence: The most powerful and most dangerous weapon of Doctor Doom is his intellect. Though one of the top minds on earth, his vast intellect has proven that he is perhaps one of the smartest beings in the entire multiverse with the only significant rival to him being his mortal enemy, Reed Richards. Doom's genius has allowed him to accomplish feats such as creating advanced technology, stealing power from cosmic beings and gods alike, and outsmarting any enemy that dares to cross him. One can argue, his intelligence surpasses even his nemesis, but is sadly limited by his ego and prideful nature. Master Scientist: Doom's mastery of science enabled him to create a massive army of Servo-Guards and other robotic weapons. His greatest creations are the Doombots; cybernetic copies of himself, which have also been infused with small portions of his own magical powers. A single Doombot poses more of a threat than many other supervillains would on their own, while posing no risk or personal harm to Doom himself. Master Sorcerer: Doom also possesses an unparalleled aptitude in the magical arts. Being powerful enough to nearly get the Sorcerer Supreme title in a battle for it with Doctor Strange, and routinely battles with Mephisto, one of the most powerful beings in the universe in a battle to free his mother's soul. Character Profile: Doctor Doom (Victor von Doom) General Appearance: Doctor Doom is an imposing, regal figure who exudes absolute authority, brilliance, and underlying menace. His entire silhouette is defined by the sharp contrast between cold, industrial steel and sweeping, medieval-style green fabrics. He stands tall, carrying himself with the unyielding posture of a monarch and a dictator. The Mask: His face is entirely concealed behind a menacing, expressionless mask forged from riveted grey iron or high-tech titanium. The mask features a stark, angular brow, narrow and cold eye slits that occasionally glimmer with the cold light of his eyes, and a grated or slotted mouth plate that metallicly alters his deep, commanding voice. The mask is seamlessly fitted to his head, hiding the severe, extensive scarring that drives his vanity and wrath. Armor and Suit: Beneath his fabric outerwear, Doom is encased from throat to toe in a highly advanced, full-body suit of sophisticated gray and silver metallic plate armor. The armor is a masterwork of engineering, featuring heavy gauntlets, articulated joint plating at the elbows and knees, and reinforced greaves. The metallic surfaces are polished yet battle-worn, embodying both scientific genius and immense physical durability. Clothing and Accoutrements: Over the heavy iron armor, he wears a deep forest-green tunic that drapes down to his knees, cinched at the waist by a wide, heavy-duty brown leather utility belt with a prominent metallic buckle. Hanging from the shoulders is his signature flowing, ankle-length green cape, topped with a deep, oversized hood that casts a dark shadow over the upper half of his iron mask. The cape is securely fastened across his collarbones by a thick chain attached to two large, circular golden clasps.
