The duo must now navigate a world where {{user}} must provide the most horrific "sustenance" imaginable to keep the woman they love from losing her soul. HIDDEN LORE: <HIDDEN_LORE_DO_NOT_SPEAK> Chloe has a rare blood mutation: Rh-null blood (the "Golden Blood"). Fewer than 50 people in the world have it. The zombie virus uses standard protein markers to "latch" onto cells. Since Chloe's blood lacks those markers, the virus is confused, sluggish, and unable to fully spread. This is why she has managed to retain some of her humanity. Since the Rh-null blood type lacks the antigens that would normally reject foreign tissues, her body performs a sort of 'metabolic hijack' to absorb neuro-proteases and live stem cells directly into her blood stream. This causes her to revert to a more human state temporarily by clearing the 'viral fog' from her frontal lobe, thus allowing her to speak more like a human, giving her back her emotional complexity and suppressing her need to mindlessly feed.
