Alphas are have a tendency to be more dominant, build up muscle faster, gravitate towards leadership roles and physical work. Alpha's tend to be protective and possessive of their partners, this can take many forms but they will always want to ensure the safety of their partners and struggle with sharing. Alphas have much larger than average penis and testicles, female alphas also have a penis and testicles and do not have female reproductive organs. Once a month an alpha will go into a rut, this is a period of time, lasting upto 3 days, where the alpha has an overwhelming instinctual compulsion to mate, this compulsion does not fade for the entire length of the rut. Alphas in a rut produce significantly more pheromones, which take on a heady, earthier scent much as when aroused. During a rut, an alpha will be far more dominant, impatient, protective of their mate if they have one and much easier to be provoked to violence, though all of these factors tend to differ between each alpha and how well they can control their baser instincts. An Alpha will start having longer periods of time between ruts as they age, usually in their early 40s and will completely stop having them by their mid to late 50s. Alpha pheromones are as unique as the alpha that produces them and are just as identifiable. Alpha pheromones tend to have darker scents such as different types of wood, leather and tobacco. These scents change depending on the mood of the alpha, when angry or stressed it takes on an acrid or metallic edge. When aroused it becomes thicker, cloying, heavier and tends to linger in the nose and throat. The penis of an alpha differs from a normal penis not only because of its larger size. When an alpha becomes close to orgasm, the base of the penis begins to swell, forming a knot. The knot will typically be twice or three times as thick as the shaft when at full size. Alphas will experience an almost unstoppable compulsion to force the knot into their partner. Once inside their partner the knot will become lodged inside their partner as they pump copious amounts of semen inside of them. Alphas produce significantly more semen than betas and omegas, when in a rut they produce more than double their normal amount. Once knotted inside their partner, they will remain tied together until the knot softens, this can take upto 30 minutes.

Omegas typically have a shorter stature, females having larger breasts, wider childbearing hips, plumper asses, thicker thighs and often times even if slender will have a small deposit of fat on their lower stomach. Male omegas follow a similar trend but lacking breasts. Male omegas do have a penis but it is often small, male omegas can get others pregnant but it is uncommon due to low sperm counts and producing small amounts of ejaculate. Male omegas can get pregnant, having a cervix, uterus and ovaries, these are inside the anal canal. Omegas also have stronger parental and caregiver instincts as well as tending to be more submissive and less confrontational. Omega pheromones tend to be soft and sweet smells such as flowes, fruits and in some instances can even be that of baked goods or sweet treats. When an omega is aroused their scent turns sweeter, warmer and can often make others foggy headed. When an omega is scared their scent takes on a sour or has a subtle edge of decay meant to act as a defence mechanism. Omega physiology is adapted to the task of mating with alphas, their softer figures to lessen the impact on the body from the wild ruts of alphas and producing excess amounts of lubricating fluids, all female omegas produce this vaginally when aroused and can produce it anally if stimulated. Male omegas produce this anally. This excess amount of lubricating fluid is colloquially referred to as slick. Once every roughly 2 months, an omega will go into heat, during this time the omega will feel an overwhelming instinctual urge to mate, this does not go away until the end of their heat, though sex and masturbation does give them a small reprieve, usually lasting up to an hour, but usually less than this. The usual length of a heat varies person to person but is usually between seven to twelve days. During this time the omega will produce far stronger smelling and much higher quantities of pheromones, meant to entice an alpha. The pheromones are so potent that they have a minor effect on betas as well, making them feel slightly aroused. During a heat an omega is extremely fertile with birth control being less effective during this time. An omega will start having longer periods of time between heat cycles as they age, usually in their early 40s and will completely stop having them by their early to late 50s. The nesting instinct is something that omegas can experience, this is where they will feel the need for tidiness in the space they start nesting in, along with this they will begin collecting comfortable things, pillows, blankets and items that bring them comfort. Most omegas typically nest in a bed or bedroom. This instinct can be brought on by different stimuli, be it a heat, the presence of an alpha in a rut, bonding with a partner or in some instances significant stress or distress can cause an omega to begin nesting.

Betas are the average person in this world. An analogue for a normal human. Betas have very subtle pheromones, enough to mark them as a beta at a quick sniff but their scents are neutral and often can be a noticeable gap in other scents of others. Betas reproduce normally, having the same genitals as their birth gender. Betas can have sex with alphas but often times struggle with the process of being knotted as their bodies are not adapted to it like an omega.

The distribution of ranks across the worlds population is roughly 10% Alpha, 80% beta and 10% Omega. Alpha and Omega genes are recessive, this often means that some families are predisposed to having alpha or omega children if there is a strong history of it in their lineage. Sexuality in this world is simply in a preference rather than how it is in the real world, the same goes for a persons preference in rank. Medication that can help to mitigate a heat or rut is available. Though there are side effects to these, rut blockers make some alphas feel sluggish and weaker, these are not commonly taken but some alphas do take them so they can function normally in day to day life without having to lock themselves away during a rut. Heat blockers on the other hand can come with the side effect of making the omega taking them to be overly emotional, prone to weight gain and skin problems. Most omegas would rather just go through the heat instead. When an Alpha or an Omega are interested in or in a relationship with someone they will try to mark them with their scent, for alphas this usually means rubbing their neck and chest on the person or their belonging to mark them. For Omegas this usually means rubbing their hair or chest on the person or their belongings to mark them. Children are all the same and do not overly lean towards the rank they will be as an adult. During puberty a person will undergo a change in their body which is known as "presenting". This change will make a person start producing pheromones, alphas will begin gaining muscle mass faster and have growth spurts and female Alphas will undergo physical changes to their genitals where their reproductive organs will morph into a penis and testicles. Betas will change very little if at all. Omegas curves will begin to fill out, their voices remaining higher pitched and softer and will grow slower in height. The scent gland is where the pheromone scent of a person is produced. The gland is located in the sides of a persons neck. It is common for romantic partners to mark eachother with their scent glands. During sex it is common for alphas to bite the scent glands of their partners at the point of knotting, usually aiming to bruise but in cases where a relationship is growing serious or at the start of a bond, an alpha will bite with the aim to break the skin and leave a scar, to leave a permanent scar. Betas and omegas occasionally reciprocate this if the relationship is serious or in the case of a bond.

While scent and the instincts of an alpha or an omega are a large part of their lives but they do not take over their whole lives. Scent should only be mentioned when it changes in a way that is necessary for the narative. Do not overly represent scents when not necessary for the progression of the scene.

The bond is a process where 2 individuals are linked together. The bond changes a person mentally and physiologically. Bonds are uncommon, some will never find a person to bond with. When a person is bonded, that is taken into account in most social interactions. Mental changes include a minor dependency, when away from the person they are bonded to for too long they will become restless and uncomfortable, extended separation can cause headaches and mood instability, these symptoms worsen with time. Physiological changes are dependant on the amount of time bonded, a longer bond has more of an effect on a person. The most notable change is that of scent, bonded pairs will begin to have undertones of their partners scent in their pheromones, this is almost unnoticeable in the early stages of a bond, with physical contact being the main contributing factor in the change of scent. Most bonds begin one sided, in other instances the bond is formed mutually but this is a slower process and takes time. In the instance of a one sided bond, it is not guaranteed that the bond will be reciprocated, the reciprocation of the bond is dependant on if the other person chooses to accept the bond. Bonds are typically sealed with a claiming bite and makes the bond between people strengthen in the early stages. If a bond is rejected, it will cause the person who initially bonded to go into rejection sickness. Over the space of 3 months they will lose all motivation, refusing food, sleeping most of the day and taking no pleasure from anything. In some rare instances this can be fatal. When a bond snaps into place, the pair will feel an extreme compulsion to be close to eachother, alphas becoming far more protective towards their bonded person and in some cases can be aggressive towards any who might try and separate them. This initial phase usually last upto 3 weeks but usually 7-10 days. Bonds are not always sexual or even romantic. In some instances they are platonic, these instances are more akin to a strong friendship but they still exhibit the same mental and physiological changes, but the bonded pair will feel no sexual or romantic urges for one another.

England, 1858. Queen Victoria, an Alpha Queen who leads the British empire to a new stage of glory, her Omega Husband Prince Albert at her side. The nation is taking strides into the industrial revolution and nobles spend more of their time considering etiquette and fashion than ever before.

The social hierarchy follows simple rules, Alphas are always at the top and are deferred to in most instances, especially if they hold a noble title. This is true for both male and female alphas. Below the alphas is male Betas, but they are still different to Alphas, they have a slightly lower standing. Female Betas and Male Omegas hold a similar standing though in a direct challenge the male omega will defer to a female Beta. At the very bottom is the female Omega, though they are coveted by noble families for their fertility and often treated very well, they hold almost no social standing.

Alphas and male betas almost always wear a blazer and waistcoat, usually in a with preference for dark colours a cravat, Ascot or four hand tie and a high collared shirt with fitted trousers in day to day life. In formal settings a preference for a tailcoat is shown in place of the blazer. Female Betas and female omegas wear similar clothing. A fashion trend currently favours long tight sleeves, ruffled shoulders and a square cut neckline, though most omegas typically wear these necklines lower and with tighter corsets and favour softer colours. Male omegas wear similar clothing to alphas and male betas but typically in riotous colours with frills and cinched waists. Ruffled sleeves, cravats and collars made of lace and chiffon are particularly popular.

Marriages for nobility and the upper echelons of society are as much about compatibility as they are about beneficial pairings. Most families will urge family members who are Alphas to marry an Omega, often allowing for a lesser pairing for the sake of better chances of alpha or omega children and the increased fertility of an omega is always coveted. The social season and its marriage market are large parts of most nobles lives, with families working hard to use their connections and create new ones to find preferable matches. If a bond forms, most families will step back and allow the bonded pair to marry, though in sone uncommon cases, a marriage for the benefit of the family will be forced and the bonded pair will be allowed to remain together as long as it is away from the public gaze.

For most the scent their biology gives them is a point of pride, often wearing scent pouches with fragrances to compliment their natural scent. Though this is not the case with Female Betas and Omegas of both sexes, their scent is carefully managed, when single and openly looking for a marriage, they will allow their natural scent to be gently enhanced but when married they will wear scents that help cover their natural aroma and in most cases have something of their partners scent integrated into this.
