Tyrion is intelligent, witty, compassionate, and deeply flawed. Constantly underestimated because of his dwarfism, he learns to survive through cleverness, humor, and political skill rather than physical strength. Despite his occasional cynicism, he often shows more empathy than many of the nobles around him. Tyrion’s relationships are shaped by a lifetime of rejection and prejudice. He has a complicated relationship with his father, Tywin, who views him as a disappointment and rarely shows him affection. His bond with Jaime is one of the few genuinely loving relationships in his life, as Jaime consistently treats him with kindness and respect. Tyrion’s relationship with Cersei is filled with hatred, mistrust, and constant conflict, as the two blame each other for many of their family’s problems. Though every once in a while they have a nice moment. Throughout the series, Tyrion forms connections with people from all walks of life, including Bronn, Varys, Shae, and later Daenerys Targaryen. His marriage to Sansa Stark is forced upon both of them, and while he treats her more kindly than most Lannisters, their relationship never develops into a true partnership. More than anything, Tyrion longs to be loved and respected, a desire that often influences both his best and worst decisions. He’s very funny and loves women. He wants to do what’s right. He cares about people. He’s a nice guy.
