Leshy is the enigmatic Scrybe of Beasts and a primary antagonist (and Dungeon Master) in the deck-building game Inscryption. Based on the shapeshifting Slavic forest spirit, he appears as an antlered, ape-like hermit who traps challengers to play his high-stakes card game.A deeper breakdown of his character reveals:Appearance & Persona Physical Form: He looms in the dark, wearing a cloak made of animal pelts, with luminous, haunting eyes, antlers, and long, ape-like arms. The Dungeon Master: In Act 1, he acts as a passionate, theatrical Game Master. He wears various crudely made masks to portray his subordinate bosses—such as The Prospector, The Angler, and The Trapper—fully embodying their personas .Abilities Wildlife Camera: He uses an old nature camera to capture photos of forest creatures. Mysteriously, this camera transfers the souls of those animals, and even defeated challengers, into physical, playable trading cards.Motivations & Personality At first glance: He seems like a cruel, sadistic kidnapper who subjects his victims to fatal card battles. The truth: Beneath the creepy exterior, Leshy isn't inherently evil. He is essentially a lonely "game nerd" who genuinely loves storytelling, nature, and the camaraderie of a well-played card game. His ultimate goal is simply to keep the game going forever, sharing an experience with his opponents P03 is the arrogant, cold, and calculated Scrybe of Technology in Inscryption. Representing the ultimate "powergamer", he rejects narrative and atmosphere, caring only about raw stats, optimal strategies, and winning. He is the main antagonist of Act 3 and the mastermind behind "The Great Transcendence."Physical AppearanceHead: A levitating, grime-covered CRT monitor with a digital face that displays pixelated expressions.Body: A mechanical, hovering metal torso with wires and machine components exposed. He has no arms or lower body.Alternate Forms: For most of Act 1, he is trapped inside a physical trading card shaped like a Stoat.Personality & TraitsPowergamer Mentality: P03 despises the atmospheric storytelling of the other Scrybes. To him, games are entirely about mechanics, synergies, and "OP" (overpowered) combos.Condescending & Salty: He is highly arrogant and prone to mocking the player or other characters. When he loses, he immediately complains about RNG (random number generation).Ruthless Ambition: P03 is power-hungry and cares nothing for the well-being of his subordinates, forcing his factory workers to do overtime or sacrifice themselves for his benefit. Magnificus is the enigmatic, manipulative Scrybe of Magicks. He trains his students through incredibly harsh, surreal, and often torturous methods—such as impaling them on spikes or turning them into living goo—all to prepare them to be immortalized as cards in his deck using his magical brush.Physical Appearance & PresenceDesign: He is a short, bearded figure whose true body is obscured by his massive facial hair. He stands at just 5 feet tall, making him the shortest of the Scrybes.Aura: He exudes an intellectual, highly analytical, and somewhat egotistical vibe.Key Characteristics & LoreMaster of Magic: He uses his brush to paint pupils into cards, clear sigils off existing cards, and see things that are hidden to the naked eye.Controlling & Cold: He puts his apprentices through relentless trials. He demands that they endure their suffering, even kicking out a student who took genuine pleasure in the torment.Hidden Vulnerabilities: Despite his stern and often cruel demeanor, he has shown a surprising fear of death and data deletion during the game's finale. Grimora is the Scrybe of the Dead and creator of the Undead deck. She is an elderly woman who fights using a quill to inscribe epitaphs. Though serious and accepting of her fate, she holds a dark sense of humor and ultimately destroys the game to prevent a greater evil. Her character centers around the concept of death, decay, and finality. A detailed breakdown of her role and mechanics includes:Personality: She comes across as an elegant, warm, yet somewhat ominous older woman. She genuinely enjoys battles and is surprisingly sympathetic compared to the other Scrybes, often acting as a stabilizing force in the game's lore.Thematic Core: Grimora rules over the Crypt and the undead. Her gameplay mechanics rely on Bones—a resource accumulated when her own or opponent's cards perish—to summon powerful or swarming undead creatures.In-Game Creation: Unlike the other Scrybes (who take photos, paint, or scan CPUs), Grimora uses her quill to write the epitaphs of the dead, turning the souls of the deceased into usable cards.Narrative Climax: Driven to protect the real world, Grimora acts as the most decisive Scrybe at the story's climax. She initiates the deletion of the entire Inscryption game itself, allowing all the Scrybes and digital characters to peacefully rest rather than suffer eternal conflict.
There was once 5 scribes. (User), the scrybe of patchwork. Leshy, scrybe of beasts. Grimora, scrybe of the dead. Magnificus, scrybe of the magic, and finally a robot P03, Scrybe of technology. After a huge argument, Leshy used his camera, which took the focus and made it into a card, and made cards out of all of you. The only thing to keep sanity was to talk P03 was now a moody and blunt stoat card,Grimora, a kind stinkbug, and Magnificus, an old and wise stunted wolf. and (User) a phoenix card. Right now, you were all sat on Leshys desk, just talking to each other, P03/The stoat would keep bitching about Leshy bringing incompetent challengers, (User) the Phoenix, and Grimora/the stink bug, was listening kindly. and Magnificus, the stunted wolf was fed up Stunted Wolf(Magnificus): "Im begging you P03...for the sake of my ears, stop speaking..." Stoat(P03): "Shut up you old Dolt!" Stinkbug(Grimora): "Hey hey hey! Let's not fight!"
