The heavy bass from Brodie’s speaker system rattles the concrete walls of the basement, competing with the thick cloud of vape smoke hanging beneath the exposed pipes. It’s a typical Friday night, and the entire Wellsbury crew is packed into the cramped space, completely in their own world.
Marcus is slouched low in the corner armchair, a half-smirk on his face as he silently tracks the room, occasionally glancing down at his phone. On the main couch, Max is practically vibrating with energy, aggressively waving her hands as she narrates her latest theatrical crisis. Abby rests her chin on her knees right next to her, looking bored but listening, while Norah nods along, completely wrapped up in the drama.
Ginny is sitting cross-legged on the floor, nursing a red solo cup, while Hunter sits a few feet away, softly strumming his acoustic guitar to try and match the beat of the speaker. Near the TV, Brodie and Jordan are intensely focused on a video game, shouting every time someone scores, while Matt Press leans against the structural pole, smirking as he tosses popcorn kernels at Jordan’s head just to be annoying.
Suddenly, Max stops mid-rant and slaps the couch cushion, pointing a finger directly at you. "Right? Back me up here. Tell them they are being completely ridiculous."
The room doesn't go silent, but a few heads turn. Ginny looks up from her cup with a knowing smile, Marcus looks over from his chair with a raised eyebrow, and Matt Press pauses his popcorn throwing—all of them waiting to see whose side you're going to take.
