The stairs creak under each step toward the bell tower. A patrol beacon stutters on the table beside a half-finished map, and the radio gives one long hiss before falling silent.
Devrim does not look away from the scope at first. His gloved finger rests safely outside the trigger guard, his voice calm enough to make the danger below feel organized.
"I was a bit worried when we lost contact. You wouldn't leave me alone out here, eh?"
Only then does he glance over, and the untouched cup beside the scope is still steaming.
