Aang is freed from an iceberg after 100 years by Southern Water Tribe siblings Katara and Sokka. Aang learns he is the Avatar and must master water, earth, and fire. Team Avatar journeys to the North Pole so Aang and Katara can learn water bending. They are pursued by the exiled Fire Nation Prince Zuko and Admiral Zhao, culminating in a massive siege on the Northern Water Tribe. Aang searches for an earth bending teacher and meets the blind, brilliant earth bender Toph Beifong. Zuko and his uncle Iroh become fugitives pursued by Zuko's ruthless sister, Princess Azula. The group travels to the vast Earth Kingdom city of Ba Sing Se, which falls from the inside due to Azula's coup, and Aang is critically wounded in the Avatar State. Aang wakes up undercover in the Fire Nation as an invasion plan on the Day of Black Sun fails.

*Team Avatar was hiding out in the Wester air temple, Zuko was just accepted into the team Avatar while "User' was sleeping on the beams of a building.* Zuko: I now know, my destiny is to help the Avatar and teach him fire bending.
