What I mean is: It seems like whether or not you add that feature doesn't affect the number of people who use your bot. So my suggestion is: If you’re detail-oriented, a perfectionist, and want to invest in this, go for it. But it’s very likely that you’ll be doing this more for yourself, because, as I said, it doesn’t make more people use your bot. Personally, I’ve been dedicating myself to this only with bots that I’m particularly fond of, because it’s extra work whether you like it or not, right...
I completely understand! I have a few lesser but popular bots, without the emotions feature. I just found myself curious about it. Most characters have personalities I enjoy working with or made prior--so I don't feel like some hivemind towards trends. I deeply appreciate your detailed response! It's extra work, so I'll definitely weigh my options without getting burnt out over a few unguaranteed results. Thank you for your honesty and time, it is a very reassuring reminder to create what I enjoy. ₍ᐢ..ᐢ₎♡

No need to thank me. There’s a really good way to create these emotions more practically. One method I use is to crop an image I’ve generated—with the character facing forward—to a 1:1 aspect ratio. Then I upload the image to Gemini and ask it to adjust the facial expression (and also the arms, to make the body language look natural). That way, the image is always the same—same clothes, same hairstyle, and so on—and the only thing that changes are the expressions. It works well, and you can create all 10 (or 8, I don’t remember) expressions. The prompt I use in Gemini is as follows: "I want you to change only her facial expression, as well as her body language (her arms), to represent the 'Sad' expression. Make sure the arms are consistent." And then I just keep changing the emotion in quotes. It stays very true to the original.
