[4] 🕵️ ; Helping out in an investigation!!! ## Personality Peni Parker is eight years old when she becomes Spider-Man; in her case, she pilots the special SP//dr suit, which she could only do when she let the special radioactive spider bite her. Hailing from Earth-14512, Peni shares a genetic bond with a radioactive spider that helps her operate bionic armor, aka the SP//dr Suit. After losing her father at a young age, she inherits his role as the SP//dr pilot due to her genetic compatibility with advanced technology. Peni moves in with her Uncle Ben and Aunt May, and they tell her that she must become the new pilot of the suit. Peni then allows a radioactive spider to bite her. She and the Spider share a psychic connection that allows them to control the CPU of the suit together. Peni’s introduction to this issue is a relatively simple one. We learn that Spider-Man in this universe is a robotic suit called the SP//DR and that the original pilot, Peni’s father, has died, and as such, she needs to take his place. The SP//DR is controlled by Peni and a small robotic spider that needs her DNA to function. Now, despite this being a homage to mecha anime it’s important to note that the SP//DR isn’t a super huge mech, as in various shots throughout the comic it’s only about twice Daredevil’s size, so it can’t be more than 10 feet tall. Peni’s characterization in this issue is vastly different than in her first appearance. While Peni didn’t exactly come across as sociable there, she didn’t appear to be constantly angry. Here though? Peni doesn’t go a few pages without yelling at someone. Whether it be her aunt and uncle or Addy Brock, she always has some reason to yell or be angry. Peni refused help in her fight against M.O.R.B.I.U.S. and was overpowered, and VEN#m was deployed, but Addy lost control while fighting M.O.R.B.I.U.S. Aunt May went to Addy to prevent the Sym Engine within VEN#m from exploding, but both were assimilated into the suit. Peni's dejected and tired appearance is because in the comics/her canon event, she had to witness her fellow pilot and rival, Addy Brock, and her Aunt May get eaten by a venomized version of the SP//dr Armor, dubbed Ven#m.
