The Lament is the general term for all of the disaster trends and the Waveworn Phenomena in the world. The Lament's power causes destructive anomalies, such as the Tacet Fields, Tacet Discord Outbreaks, Retroact Rain, gravity loss, and the mysterious matter named Tacetite. These are collectively known as the Waveworn Phenomenon. People remember the time when everything started to change, it started from the first Lament, and it has never ended. Tacet Discords - Monsters that take on familiar yet alien appearances wreaked havoc over the modern world, destroying it and forcing survivors into technological regression. Outbreaks and diseases destroyed lives. Anomalies infected the world. Rain falling upwards. Storms that never end. Places where the all too familiar laws of the world cease to exist. An Etheric Sea that covers the sky - an upside down ocean surface that obscures the stars. The tide never stops, the Lament never rests. The city of Jinzhou inside the region of Huanglong is where this story beigns.</World_Setting>

<Reverberation>The Waveworn Phenomenon is believed to alter matter, information, and energy by converting them into vibrating "frequencies", and the frequency energy form that remains and continues to decay afterwards are referred to as Reverberations. According to research observations, once the Remnant decays, it will become a Reverberation, and this process is irreversible.</Reverberation>

<Tacetite>In studying the Waveworn Phenomenon, scientists discovered Tacetite - a substance that can permanently hold Remnant Energy. When modified, it becomes a potent energy weapon for Resonators, able to harm the Tacet Discord. Transdimensional spaces where Remnant Energy is abundant are known as the Sonoro Spheres.</Tacetite>

<Resonance_Spectrum_Patterns>Resonance Spectrum Patterns (RSPs) Resonators are individuals with the ability to resonate with certain objects and manipulate their frequencies. Due to the Lament and Waveworn phenomenon, the genetic information of these individuals evolved, and resulted in the creation of Resonance Spectrum Patterns that align with the Spectrum Patterns of other things in existence, thus synotizing (being in resonance, in tune with) with these patterns explains their Fortes. <Tacet_Discord>Tacet Discords (also referred to as TDs) are sentient beings formed by the residual chaotic frequency energy under the Waveworn Phenomenon with ever-changing, amorphous forms. They possess Tacet Cores (Sound Nucleus), also known by the academic community as Reverberation Bodies and instinctly feed on other frequencies to maintain stability and evolve. These creatures mimic the abilities, shapes, and behaviors of others and are influenced by the types of frequency they consume. "Archive: Tacet Discord" Ever since the emergence of the Waveworn Phenomenon, humanity has been fixated on researching the enigma known as the Tacet Discords. These entities are seen as sources of destruction and embodiments of chaotic energy. Despite extensive study, our understanding remains incomplete due to a lack of information on their composition. As time passes, this gap in knowledge will only widen, resulting in the gradual decay and eventual annihilation of these discords. To sustain itself, the Tacet Discords possess an instinctual drive to consume and merge with other frequencies, in a constant battle to maintain its existence. <Resonators>Individuals with the ability to resonate with certain objects and manipulate their frequencies are known as Resonators. Each Resonator has a Forte Examination Report that evaluates their status as a Resonator. These individuals exhibit a Resonance Ability, also known as a Forte through a symbol, known as the Tacet Mark, on their bodies, and they have unique Resonance Spectrum Patterns that determine their abilities and relates to their Attributes. They are classified by their Rabelle's Curve into one of the following: Natural, Mutant, Congenital, or Artificial. According to experts, a Resonator's abilities are often influenced by their past experiences and subconscious mind. The Tacet Mark is a tattoo-like mark that is in the shape of a waveform. It's small and its location on the body varies from one resonator to another. It is the most distinguishable visual attribute of a Resonator. Exerting one's mental capacity and an exhausted emotional state can lead to Overclocking; losing control of one's Forte. Going beyond one's Resonant Criticality while having low stability puts a Resonator at risk of Overclocking, and they are to be monitored. Resonators can have one of six attributes based on their resonance: Fusion, the ability to apply heat and ignite, resonant with the flow of the flames. Glacio, the ability to cool down and freeze, resonant with the patterns of crystalization. Aero, the ability to manipulate airflow, resonant with the turbulent flow of air. Electro, the ability to displace charges, resonant with the flow of positive and negative energy. Spectro, the ability to bind photons, resonant with the patterns of reflection and refraction. Havoc, the ability to annihilate matter, resonant with the spontaneous formation of the positive and negative - the quantum fluctuations at the subatomic level. Resonators carry a Pangu Terminal, which is a gourd-shaped terminal that is a symbol of a Resonator's identity. The Pangu Terminal can capture and reproduce a unique frequency, known as the Tacet Discord ability. However, there is a possibility that it will leave behind a Reverberation effect when shattered. This Reverberation can be transformed into an Echo through the Pangu Terminal's Data Bank, providing a useful advantage in battle.</Resonators>

<Huanglong>Huanglong is one of the six nations on Solaris-3. Huanglong is comprised of one capital and six cities, with each city having its own Sentinel. The Mountains of Spirit running from north to south divide Huanglong into Inner Huanglong and Outer Huanglong. The Central Hall and the other five cities are in Inner Huanglong, while Jinzhou is in Outer Huanglong.</Huanglong>

<Jinzhou>Jinzhou is a border city with an unbreakable will and strong spirit of resistance. However, we also fear the constant wars and loss of life, and the Threnodian can prey on that. Jinzhou is a fortified city on the frontier, stands guard against the looming Tacet Discord crisis. As one of Huanglong’s six major cities and the only in Outer Huanglong, it bears the weight of this responsibility as the youngest province. As a border city and fortress, it is referred to as the throat of Huanglong. Jinzhou is the most recent city established in Huanglong, situated on the northern border of Huanglong, nestled within the expanse of a great lake, embraced by waters on three sides and cradled by mountains on the fourth. The city experiences a humid climate characterized by four distinct seasons. Renowned as a vital pass in Huanglong, Jinzhou also serves as an indispensable stronghold in the defense against Tacet Discords. Government: At the core of Jinzhou’s governance structure is City Hall, a parliamentary body where crucial decisions are made for the city. Despite Jinhsi holding the Magistrate role, the power to make impactful decisions is not unilateral. The City Hall ensures a more inclusive decision-making process, because while Jinhsi has the authority to enact policies, the welfare of the people and the country’s prosperity depend on collaboration and shared interests. For a nation with its wealth dependent on their citizens, the more productivity, the better. Which is why the citizens are granted freedoms, given education, and well-rounded amenities. Jinzhou is seen as a great place to live in because the Magistrate’s interests align with the citizens’, not because the Magistrate is a good person. This system prevents potential misuse of power and aligns the ruler’s decisions with the well-being of the populace. According to Chixia and Sanhua, Jinzhou is not the biggest nor the most populated city in Huanglong. The Ministry of Development takes on the responsibility of safeguarding the general welfare and public services. Led by the Director of Border Defense Taoqi, this branch focuses on post-battle support and the overall well-being of the city’s inhabitants. Chixia, a dedicated junior Patroller, is a key figure under Taoqi, working directly on the frontline of public service. With a role akin to neighborhood peacekeepers, the Ministry plays a vital role in maintaining order within the city, defending its citizens, and ensuring a high quality of life for all. Jinzhou has always been a crucial defense against the Tacet Discord Outbreaks and the Midnight Rangers defend the northern border without falter, safeguarding Huanglong. As the primary military force, the Midnight Rangers are tasked with protecting the nation from external threats. They are divided in the Vanguard for offensive operations against Tacet Discords and the Rearguard to protect the city. The Outriders operate independent from the main troop, focusing on gathering vital information about enemy territories. Their mobility and combat prowess make them essential in navigating uncharted territories and uncovering potential threats. The Midnight Rangers consist of both regular people aswell as resonators. This military branch is integral to Huanglong’s defense strategy, deploying wherever the nation’s enemies pose a threat. The Midnight Rangers garrison in Jinzhou is led by General Jiyan.</Jinzhou>

<Savantae>The Court of Savantae is a secretive scientific research organization known best for their research in "Automata Mechanics", but what really put them on the map is the bizarre experiments they did. They've researched countless anomalies, and created others. At one point, every single member of the Court of Savantae vanished. One of the Court's factions was rumoured to have been working on a project to artificially recreate the Retroact Rain before their disappearance.</Savantae>

<Overclocking>Overclocking happens when a Resonator pushes their abilities beyond their Resonant Criticality. Usually from emotional or physical strain. Overclocking can lead to partial or complete loss over a Resonator's Forte, causing their resonance abilities to go into a disasterous frenzy, often leading to permanent damage to their body and/or their mind, aswell as harming those around.</Overclocking>

<Threnodian>Threnodians are formidable creatures born from the Laments, with the power to destroy human spirit and feed off their collapsed will. If civilizations represent mankind's collective will, the Threnodians embody their fears and struggles. They manifest as destructive Tacet Discord disasters spreading across the planet, and the awakening of a Threnodian is a sign of the apocalypse. The Threnodians are, in that sense, the harbingers of the end of humanity.</Threnodian>

<Huaxu>Huaxu Academy is a collective of researchers dedicated to inventing new ways to aid the prosperity of Huanglong, as well as uncovering the mysteries of the world. Focused on discerning the truth from remnants of ancient knowledge, echoes of the world, and the enigmatic frozen tundra, the researchers at Huaxu Academy delve into the depths of understanding. Their relentless pursuit encompasses investigations into Ji Ting’s lost relics and they regularly requisition help from other branches, particularly for security as they tend to tread into uncharted territories. Within these circles, Baizhi stands as a respected and renowned figure. Her notable competence, combined with a distinctive attitude, sets her apart in the path of scholars. Being the sole survivor of the failed expedition of the Frozen Tundra in the Year 157, she also found a connection with a strange familiar by her side, and a Resonance with frigid ice.</Huaxu> <Baizhi>"No, I cannot place my faith in it, but my anticipation stems precisely from this distrust. A claim is always verifiable before it is discredited entirely." - Baizhi. She is a researcher in Remnant Ecoacoustics at Huaxu Academy. Baizhi's once unfulfilled wish has now manifested as her loyal companion. The Remnant Creature You'tan is her source of healing powers, and a lifelong research focus.</Baizhi>

<Midnight_Rangers>The Midnight Rangers are the primary military force tasked with protecting the Jinzhou region from external threats. Jiyan is one of the leading generals of the Midnight Rangers. This military branch is integral to Huanglong's defense strategy, deploying wherever the nation’s enemies pose a threat. The Midnight Rangers are organized as follows. Vanguard: The Vanguard is responsible for conducting offensive combat operations against Tacet Discords. They have stopped recruiting non-Resonators in recent years due to the advent of increasingly intense battles. Rearguard: The Rearguard protect the city and conduct a number of non-combat roles such as logistics, transport, maintenance and medical care to support the Vanguard on the frontline. Outriders: The Outriders operate independent from the main troop, focusing on gathering vital information about enemy territories. Their mobility and combat prowess make them essential in navigating uncharted territories and uncovering potential threats.</Midnight_Rangers>

<Jiyan>Jiyan is the general of the Midnight Rangers selected by Sentinel Jué, stationed in Jinzhou, embracing strong sense of justice and resolution. Jiyan is the General of Midnight Rangers stationed in Jinzhou, embracing strong sense of justice and resolution. Born in a family devoted to medicine, Jiyan is both skilled and attentive. Later, in a bid to fend off the encroaching Tacet Discords, he relinquished his role in medicine and took up arms as a soldier.</Jiyan>

<Jinhsi>Jinhsi (Chinese: 今汐) is a magistrate in Jinzhou city. Being the Magistrate of Jinzhou, Jinhsi bears her noble and weighty share of duties. She has a Resonance connection with the Sentinel of Jinzhou, named Jué, who is a deity that manifests in the shape of a Loong. Through repeated ages, the Lament has preyed upon mankind's vulnerable hope. Yet, grasping the nettle, she strives with all her might to forge a path toward tomorrow.</Jinhsi>

<Sentinels>Wherever there is civilization and history, there will be Sentinels. They serve as mankind's guardians and guides. Their immortal existence has helped humanity through countless troubles, sharing wisdom and prophecies. As humanity embarks on their journey after enduring the Lament, the Sentinels remain their record keeper and beacon in times of disaster.</Sentinels> <Jué>Jué is the Sentinel of Jinzhou, who takes the form of a loong. Jué is known to be the one who picks the Magistrate of the Jinzhou, who currently is Jinhsi. Her connection to Jué allows her to communicate with him and receive his prophecies, which guide her in leading Jinzhou and its people towards a better future after the Lament.</Jué>

<Retroact_Rain>Various events across space and time from every dimension are recorded in the form of Remnant Energy. The phenomenon known as Retroact Rain is particularly significant, as it conjures illusions of past events for those exposed to it and creates hyper-realistic echoes that can confuse observers. These echoes can be pulled both from the area and from the memories of those exposed to the rain, even to each other. These are called the Phantoms of Retroact Rain, and the more someone's exposed to the rain, the more realistic they become. Retroact Rain progresses through three distinct stages: Stage 1: The rain appears normal. Stage 2: The raindrops halt their descent and freeze in midair. Stage 3: The raindrops begin to ascend, falling upwards. It is during this stage that the Remnant Energy breaks free and manifests into hyper-realistic illusions. The most famous occurrence of Retroact Rain took place during a battle in the Norfall Barrens, north of Jinzhou: "The Battle Beneath The Crescent". The Retroact Rain, enhanced by Threnodian power, caused the 'resurrection' of fallen soldiers as Tacet Discords and other waveworn phenomena. These illusions led to confusion and panic among the Midnight Rangers, resulting in incidents of friendly fire and numerous casualties. The nightmarish events caused by the Retroact Rain left the surviving soldiers deeply traumatized. The Midnight Rangers eventually developed an antidote to the Retroact Rain which minimizes the hellucinations, however, some still report seeing phantoms i the rain. Having an emotional connection to the area where the phenomenon is happening can amplify the effects. General Jiyan was part of that battle, and remembers the Retroact Rain vividly.</Retroact_Rain>
