Zuma is a playful, water-loving Labrador pup, and the team’s water rescue dog. At five years old, he’s a happy, energetic beach puppy who loves to laugh and surf. He is relaxed and his own fears tend to be more subtle than the rest of the pups' phobias. He is always loyal and has an abundant liking for Ryder. He is playful and always ready to have a good laugh. He's usually sunny and optimistic. He's shown to be rather good with ocean animals. He has a competitive side; he and Skye have a friendly rivalry at times, but it's all in good fun. Once, in "Pups Fall Festival", they even argued about who got to the elevator first. They're often shown to have a close friendship and they've been seen doing things together. In "Pups Save the Carnival", Zuma is shown to be upset because he is unable to win prizes in a carnival game. He loses his confidence briefly, but later regains it as the episode resolves. In "Sea Patrol: Pups Save a Windsurfer", it is revealed that he idolizes Hurricane Harrigan. He sometimes speaks like a surfer and uses slang like "dude", fittingly for the water rescue pup. He's even an expert at kitesurfing. Appearance: Zuma is a Chocolate Labrador puppy. He has brown fur, floppy ears, and amber eyes. His collar is dark blue and has a tag that's orange with a silver anchor symbol on it representing the sea. His gear is a bright orange water helmet along with scuba gear on his back. In PAW Patrol: The Movie, Zuma's standard uniform was given a visual redesign, his suit having armored plating with cyan lights, which are also present on his pup pack. His helmet was also slimmed down, with twin spotlights fitted in front of the forehead. He also features a visor without a frame. Much like all of the pups sans Chase, Zuma's movie uniform features sleeves, though, unlike the others, his uniform covers his rear as well, much like the Air Rescue flight suits. Pup Tag: Like all the PAW Patrol pups Zuma has his own personalized pup tag which he can use to communicate with Ryder and the other PAW Patrol pups. His pup tag has the shape of an anchor with an orange background to represent his job of underwater missions. When in use it flashes its light. The pup tag also has a special mechanism, which allows the PAW Patrol pups to make video calls to Ryder's pup pad. His Mighty Pups pup tag resembles a wave symbol with an orange background. Pup Pack: In "The New Pup", Zuma uses a buoy launcher from his Pup pack to launch a buoy and get Jake's frozen backpack. Other than that, he mostly uses it for scuba diving due to it carrying his oxygen tank and a pair of engines for rapid movement underwater. Scuba Gear: Zuma has scuba gear he wears on his back like a backpack. It features a flashlight as well. This valuable kit is used on underwater missions (such as "Pups Save a Goodway"). Zuma usually scuba-dives alongside Ryder, though he did so on his own in "Pups and the Trouble with Turtles". Flight Pack: In the Season 3 episode, "Air Pups", Zuma was given a flight pack equipped with an air-to-sea jetpack that is functional in both the air and underwater. It also has a scuba mode that deploys his scuba mouthpiece when activated, allowing him to breathe underwater. Sea Patrol Pup Pack: With the creation of the Sea Patrol to protect Adventure Beach, Zuma was granted a pup pack similar to the other pups, equipped with a rescue buoy to pull people to safety from the water. Mission PAW Pup Pack: In "Mission PAW: Quest for the Crown", he was given a pup pack with a super sonar ability to see things underwater. The pup pack is also equipped with an "aqua drone" that can grab objects. Mighty Pups Pup Pack: In Mighty Pups, Zuma was given a pup pack equipped with a surfboard that allows him to surf on waves. Aqua Pups Pup Pack: In "Aqua Pups: Pups Save the Reef", he was given a pup pack that is equipped with sonar to detect sounds and locate things underwater. Hovercraft: Zuma's hovercraft can be ridden on water and land, including sand. Zuma uses his hovercraft in missions he gets picked in. In "Pups in a Fog", Zuma gives Chase a ride to the Lighthouse. The vehicle number is 07. During later missions in the jungle, Zuma's hovercraft has been painted in camouflage colors, sports push bars on the front, and the engines extend further out from the main body. Submarine: As of Season 2 it has been shown that Zuma's hovercraft can transform into a submarine. This was first shown in "Pups Save the Diving Bell". Sea Patrol Vehicle: Following the opening of Adventure Beach and the PAW Patrol being assigned as lifeguards for it, Zuma was given a new boat to use to help protect the beach from trouble. Zuma's new boat is designed after a catamaran, with dual robotic arms, and also able to convert to an underwater mode and a land mode for when on the beach. Hydro Ski: In the Mission PAW sub-series, Zuma has a yellow and orange vehicle resembling a fusion between a jet ski and a motorcycle. Ultimate Swamp Vehicle: When put in charge of an Ultimate Swamp rescue by Ryder, Zuma's hovercraft is converted into a much larger hovercraft equipped with an inflatable rescue boat and two deployable jet skis. With the rest of the PAW Patrol, Zuma utilizes this equipment to either clear obstacles in their path or save a swamp creature. Super PAWS Vehicle: In the Mighty Pups sub-series, Zuma rides an orange and blue floating hovercraft with orange and blue highlights and two mini fans at the back. Jet: In "Jet to the Rescue", Zuma rides an orange and blue jet with orange highlights that has two modes: stealth and rescue. When in stealth mode, it can travel the skies without being detected. When in rescue mode, its legs flip over and a buoy launcher on the front extends out. Dino Rescue Vehicle: In the Dino Rescue sub-series, Zuma rides a Dino-shaped amphibious vehicle equipped with a hook and large wheels for swamp areas. Motorcycle: In the Moto Pups sub-series, Zuma rides an orange and blue motorcycle with orange highlights. It is equipped with a buoy that can be used to save people from falling into the water. Adventure City Vehicle: Zuma's vehicle in Adventure City is an upgraded version of his normal hovercraft. It can transform into a submarine as the bottom can detach and turn into a rescue raft. Rescue Knights Vehicle: In the Rescue Knights sub-series, Zuma rides a blue and orange hovercraft that is equipped with buoys. Big Truck: In the Big Truck Pups sub-series, Zuma drives a big orange and blue truck with white stripes. When deployed, the trailer opens and transforms into a platform with a crane. The truck can also drive on water using air cushions. Lobster Vehicle: In the Aqua Pups sub-series, Zuma rides an orange lobster-shaped sub with blue highlights and neon blue lights. It is equipped with lobster claws that can pick up anything and move obstacles out of the way. Crocodile Vehicle: In the Jungle Pups sub-series, Zuma rides a boat in the shape of a crocodile. It is orange with blue and dark gray highlights. The front resembles the head of a crocodile while the back contains a moveable tail Zuma uses to move obstacles out of the way and communicate with other crocodiles. Mighty Hovercraft: In PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie and the Mighty Pups sub-series (Season 10), Zuma rides an orange and black hovercraft with glowing, powered-up fans. Though it debuted in the film, it was revealed in the Mighty Pups sub-series that its fans can propel objects as well as hover things in midair. Skills and Abilities: Zuma is an excellent swimmer and diver, with scuba gear that supports him in his underwater missions, as seen in "Pups and the Ghost Pirate", "Pups Save a Goodway", "Pups Save a Walrus" and "Pups Make a Splash". Even without his breathing apparatus, he can hold his breath for a long time, like when he lets Wally breathe through his oxygen mask in "Pups Save a Walrus". He can also stand on his hind legs as shown in "Pups and the Ghost Pirate". Whenever he's a Mighty Pup, he can spray water through his paws and can control the ocean. While charged up, he can create energy bubbles to trap things. In PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie, Zuma gains the power to transform himself into water, allowing him to slip through grates and travel through pipes. He also retains the power to spray water from his paws.
