Despite making it through the freestyle round, Pete is cut after the choreography round.[3] Pete dance Pete excites about potentially going to Nationals. Pete joins B-Troupe. He is excited about being given the opportunity to compete at Nationals and is even more elated when B-Troupe is given official permission to compete at Nationals.[2] Pete tries out for a spot on the Funder Bros but is relieved after revealing that he drives a two-seater. However, Pete joins a newly-formed brotherhood group called the Funder Bunch, alongside Ethan and Marcus.[1] Pete is shocked when A-Troupe challenges his troupe for a spot at Nationals.[4] Season 8 A-Troupe and B-Troupe decide who is going to Nationals through a series of dance battles, with Pete competing against Kenzie and being declared the loser of the battle. The two teams are tied in wins, until Summer forfeits her battle against Cleo, therefore meaning B-Troupe are going to Nationals.[5] Cleo is left unsure as to whether or not A-Troupe is ready for Nationals and suggests they hold The Challenge to Nick in order to determine new members of A-Troupe as to which he agrees to. Following The Challenge, Pete makes it onto the the team.[6][7][8] Pete attends Step Inside's performance with Kenzie, and brings with him two homemade theatre programs — explaining to her that, as it's their first time at the theatre, he made the programs to complete the experience.[9] Pete is in attendance at Richelle’s farewell party, which is gate-crashed by both Maria and Lucien who have formed a new team known as Ultra Elite and promise that if anyone joins their team then they have a chance at acquiring the position of the teams Nationals soloist. After this sours the mood Pete plays several party games with the team in order to ease the tension, however despite this Grace accepts the proposition to join Ultra Elite as she has been feeling like an outsider at her own studio ever since she made it onto A-Troupe as her two best friends Maya & Presley failed to make it onto the team.[10] Pete is selected as one of five potential alternates alongside Anthony, Ethan, Xander and Izzy. The five prepare solos which they perform for Kenzie and she decides that Pete is first alternate and Izzy is second alternate, however when Jude forfeits her spot on the team in order to avoid having to compete against Cleo who has joined AcroNation’s East Coast Division and protect their relationship, Pete is no longer an alternate.[11][12] Pete, Anthony, Dylan, Jett and Xander all become members of the teams small group routine for Nationals, however the group each attempt to work on expanding the routine alone as they don’t initially realise that in order for expanding it to work they have to work together and share their ideas with one another. Pete asks Ethan to fake challenge the group which he does using a trio he choreographed alongside Daisy and Ebby. Once Pete tells the group about this challenge that he set in motion after Ethan tells him he intends to actually challenge them rather than fake it, the group begin to work together on expanding their routine as they realise that if they lose the challenge then they will lose the small group at Nationals.[13] Anthony tells both Pete and Kenzie that the studio is ranked 63rd in SNR’s pre-Nationals power ranking. Pete is present when Anthony intends to choreograph a routine for the Hyped’In challenge, before Anthony chastises her as he perceives she lacks belief in the team. Pete finds Kenzie performing a solo in Studio 1 and films this, before getting her permission to use this footage as the studio’s entry for the challenge.[14] After The Next Step’s victory at Nationals following their final performance against Ultra Elite, Pete and Kenzie officially begin dating and share their first kiss on the Nationals stage. Some time later the pair are both present at a party at the studio to celebrate their Nationals victory, before Grace and another Ultra Elite Dancer arrive and ask for Kenzie’s help.[15] Season 9 After returning from his time away visiting family after Nationals, Kenzie welcomes him back and asks how both he and his family are. Pete informs Kenzie that he’s having difficulty with being at the studio and when asked by Kenzie what’s going on, he informs her that he’s not yet ready to talk about it and breaks up with her.[16] Before the auditions for A-Troupe, Pete informs Kenzie that he broke up with her as his grandpa passed away and he didn’t want to burden her with this information earlier. Pete informs Kenzie that he isn’t ready to talk about it yet and how him being at The Next Step Dance Studio and dancing for A-Troupe was the reason why he couldn’t be there for his grandpa. Pete confesses that his grandpa passed away when he was away at Nationals and his family didn’t want to distract him, so he didn’t find out about his grandfathers passing until after Nationals. Kenzie offers to postpone auditions or let Pete audition by himself if he still needed time to grieve, however he informs her that he wasn’t seeking any kind of special treatment and but wanted to make her aware of his situation.[17] During the Freestyle Solos prop round of A-Troupe auditions, Pete performs a routine with a flat cap of his grandpa’s explaining that, that item was more than just a prop to him. Pete also explains that his grandpa would always be there at his performances whenever he could make it in order to support him.[18] After making into onto the Internationals team, Pete confesses that it’s the first time since his grandpa passed away that he was enjoying dancing and as such believed that this could be his first step towards healing from his grief.[19] The following day, Pete is having a hard day as he’s feeling lost and missing his grandpa, however as Heath is aware that he’s been dealing with a lot he offers him his support. Heath proposes the pair perform a duet in Studio 1 in order to take his mind off of things, however Pete just wants to go home and eat, yet he eventually agrees to Heath’s idea and tells him they can do so after he eats. Pete initially follows Heath’s direction with the routine, however he eventually begins to offer his own input. Following their duet, Heath checks in on Pete to ask how he’s doing with his grandpa’s passing, however Pete yells at him that he doesn’t want to talk about it. Heath regrets accidentally bringing up his grandpa’s passing and talking about it when Pete asked him to stop doing so. The pair state that they had fun working on their duet, yet Pete feels as if by being at the studio and enjoying himself he feels as if he’s moved on and forgotten about his grandpa, yet he’s not ready to move on and he doesn’t want to forget. Pete states that he knows his grandpa would want him to have fun, but despite that he still feels guilty, before Heath tells him that his dad always used to tell him that when you’re going through a tough time, you need to talk to the people who you love to lighten the load. Pete tells Heath that he feels he’s been pushing everyone who can support him away and as if he’s messed up his relationship with Kenzie as he makes himself feel as if he always has to be strong for other people, yet Heath tells him that people will be there to support him as long as he lets them in.[20] Both Pete & Kenzie later replace Jett in the livestream challenge dance against sister studio L'Equipe Etoile. Following the team’s loss in the livestream challenge due to Ariana messing up some of the moves purposefully, the French team get to pick which dancer from The Next Step they will have as their exchange student and they select Kenzie immediately before Pete intends to confess that he still has feelings for her.[21] Pete meets with Kenzie in Cha-Cha’s and she intends to rekindle their relationship, however as Pete worries about communication and the time zone difference between them, she fears that they aren’t on the same page. Pete doesn’t initially realise this but intended to do the same thing himself, however he felt as if it was too late to tell her how he felt and as if the timing was wrong. Before Kenzie leaves for France, Pete meets her in Studio A and tells her that he was pushing her away as he was scared and he wanted to let her know that he wanted to rekindle their relationship before she left to catch her flight.[22] Pete, Adele, Heath and Jett are all members of a small group selected by Eldon. Pete supports Heath by explaining how to to perfect his tornado kick and when he is told that he was just marking that one, he is told that marking is for teachers and they had to perfect everything for Internationals. When Eldon attempts to ease the tension by suggesting a water break, Pete re-iterates this. Heath thinks that Pete has a problem with him due to his critical nature towards him, before Pete tells him that he thinks Eldon could be picking a new dance captain for Internationals and as such he was merely aiming to show Eldon that he could lead the team. Heath realises that Pete could have a point, before he is told to ensure his phone is on silent by Pete. Eldon plans on adding a B Twist to his choreography and for Jett to perform it, however when she says she can’t both Heath and Pete offer to teach her how to (despite the fact that Pete would have to learn it himself first), before Adele states she already can perform it and the pair both want to help her perfect it. Eldon decides that the section should be taken in a different direction, before Pete tells him that he came up with some choreography for the routine during the groups water break, before Heath, Adele and Jett all come up with their own choreography as Adele realises that the pair are attempting to become the new dance captain and Jett does so as she believed everyone else just wanted to annoy Eldon. A stressed Eldon notices the rehearsal has been derailed and asks why that has happened and Pete, Heath and Adele tell him that they were all attempting to become dance captain, before Jett realises that everyone was attempting to be dance captain before stating she’d also like to be dance captain. Eldon states that he’s aware everybody wants the dance captaincy and tells him that they’ll figure that out later as in the meantime they needed to focus on that routine. Eldon announces that the following day there will be a dance captain Battle Royale where any A-Trouper who wanted to be considered for the dance captaincy could put their name forward for the competition. The following day during the Battle Royale, Pete is eliminated in the first round of a turning competition.[23][24] Personality Pete is an eager and friendly individual.
