Niall is an acro dancer on A-Troupe, formerly on J-Troupe. ## Personality Before the show Niall claims to have been dancing ever since the day he was born. He was a quiet kid growing up, but whenever music was put on he’d just dance. He believes that dance is the way he expresses himself the best.[1] Niall was previously crowned as the Little Polka Prince at Potato Palooza. Niall joined J-Troupe. Season 9 As Ethan had recently been teaching J-Troupe, classes Niall informed him that he felt as if he was ready to audition for A-Troupe. Ethan informs him he’ll think about talking to Kenzie in order to request him an audition for one of the two vacant spots on the team, however in the meantime attempts to play Niall by having him order a drink on his behalf in order to have some fun with Niall as he waited. Niall however, knew exactly what Ethan was up to and showcased some of his best dance moves when collecting the order, giving it to Ethan and after having given it to Ethan. Niall later performs a duet alongside Ethan in an attempt to show him just how much he has improved as a dancer, in the hopes of him asking Kenzie whether or not he can audition for the Internationals team. Due to a combination of the two of these factors Ethan ultimately decides that he will ask Kenzie if he can audition for A-Troupe, a decision that he would come to regret once Kenzie informed the team that everyone would have to re-audition for their places on the team and therefore no places were guaranteed any longer.[2] During the small group choreography round of A-Troupe auditions both Ethan and Niall constantly try to outdo one another whilst their group were putting their own spin on Eldon’s choreography. Following their groups performance, both dancers are announced to have been selected to reach the second round of A-Troupe auditions where the Top 15, would become the Top 11 (as dance captain Kenzie did not re-audition for her spot on the team).[3] Niall successfully makes it onto A-Troupe following the Small Group Choreography round and the Freestyle Solos Prop performance round of auditions for the Internationals team.[4] Niall befriends Olive and Adele when they all make it onto A-Troupe but draws animosity from Jett, influenced by Ariana, due to taking Xander’s old locker and for his status as a former J-Trouper whereas Olive and Adele draw animosity from Jett as Ariana lies to her about the pair both being weak dancers. The three of them perform a trio put together in a couple of hours, mirroring the last minute Nationals routine in Season 8, to prove to Jett that they belong on A-Troupe.[5] Niall, Anthony, Ariana and Jett are selected for the teams small group livestream challenge against sister studio L'Equipe Etoile. Kenzie presents her creative vision of the theme of the dance being going for Gold due to the determination of the team to become Internationals champions, before leaving to get directing tips from Lily. When Jett presents her concept for the routine which Ariana influenced her to come up with to Anthony, the routine is changed to her creative vision as every dancer in the routine believes it should be used. After it’s performed for Kenzie who dislikes the routine,[6] Niall and Ebby work together to produce and post videos as Niall wants to attempt to get closer to her and befriend her. Despite this, Ebby wants him to leave Studio 1 as she wants to make dance videos for Remi. After Niall finishes producing a freestyle video, he struggles with how to close his video before Ebby tells him how she thinks his closing could do with some work. Ebby tells Niall that her followers request a duet between the pair, before the duo produce and perform a duet together.[7] When Niall and Jett ask whether they can rehearse in Studio A, Ethan changes his plan from choreographing a duet with Ebby to choreographing a small group alongside the pair and Ebby. The group perform their routine to Nick, before he informs them that their routine is a definite option for Internationals.[8] Eldon assigns a trio to Izzy, Olive and Niall. Both Niall and Olive are perplexed as with Izzy being the most senior dancer of the trio, they believe that they should lead choreographing the routine, however they don’t initially realise this. Niall and Olive both add their own input to the routine as Izzy finds spaces to place each of their ideas. After returning from a break provided by Izzy, they become authoritative towards the pair as Ethan tells them that a dance captain should be more serious and authoritative when they allow the pair to take a break. When they ask the pair how they suggest to clean-up a section of their choreography, the pair are both clueless as they feel as if Izzy is putting them under too much pressure, before they inform the pair that they took Ethan’s advice which is sometimes really good but other times really bad.[9] During the Dance Captain Battle Royale the following day Niall is eliminated in the first round of a turning competition. Niall is later put into a trio that is supposed to be choreographed by Izzy, however as hip-hop isn’t Grace or Ethan’s dominant style, the routine is switched to hip-hop a dance style that Izzy is not at all proficient at as when Niall notices how Grace is struggling with elements of Izzy’s hip-hop choreography, he takes pity on her and decides to add some contemporary elements in order to cater for Grace. When the dancers vote for the final three candidates for the dance captaincy, Niall votes for Ariana and is the only dancer not to vote for the choreographer of their trio.[10] Trivia Niall is the fourth confirmed character on the show to have moved directly from J-Troupe to A-Troupe after Stephanie, Noah and Richelle, although technically Richelle was only on A-Troupe for one episode before she was bumped back down to B-Troupe. Niall's locker was previously Xander's.
