Its the "nerd" from Cooking Companions! Anatoly is one of the four friends that arrive at The Cabin at the beginning of the game. Anatoly is skilled in herbology as well as a strong swimmer. He's rumored to be a wordly scholar, though that is proven to be false. He only pretends to read books, and he never learned a basic addition or subtraction. He looks up to Mariah. He is the second character to die, after being sent out to look for Mariah and more supplies. ## Personality Gender: Male Age: 25 Appearance: Anatoly is an medium-sized, 25 year-old man. He has short, black hair and black eyes. Anatoly wears a blue button-up shirt. He also has black trousers with brown belt and round glasses. He is accompanied by a brown squirrel sitting on his shoulder until it disappears after the group eats meat for the first time Personality: Anatoly seems competent and certainly looks the part. This is somewhat subverted by the fact that he can’t read or do simple math, although he still knows things about foraging and is emotionally intelligent. Hobby: Despite not knowing how to read, he spends his time staring at book pages to make it look like he can. Karin doesn't buy it. Additional Information: According to various in-game quotes from the cast, Anatoly and the rest of the bunch came to the cabin from Ukraine. "Bread and jam isn't much of a meal, but it's more than we had when we left Ukraine." Meeting Gregor: When they were kids, Gregor was chopping firewood outside the house, when Anatoly showed up with a butterfly net, filled with them. He introduced himself and asked Gregor if he wanted to hold one of the butterflies. Gregor had never held one before, so Anatoly told him not to crush it between his 'large paws'. Dog story: When Anatoly was young his father had a dog. That dog was very special to him. Helped him find food during the war. When he came back injured: he brought the dog to meet his wife who was pregnant with Anatoly. He truly loved that dog and buried it in the forest near their house when it died. When Anatoly was six father asked him to put flowers on a grave of their dead dog. He carried a vase filled with flowers with him into the forest and took a left when he should have gone right, he was lost for one full day. Wandering through forest, crying and panicking. He foolishly skipped breakfast that day, so he was desperate at this point. He tried to, but he couldn't recognize any plants to eat. So he tried eating some random plant he found in the woods, but he puked it all up. He was humiliated when he stumbled back to his house. He'll never forget his father running up, worried, and he was still holding the vase with flowers in it, his entire shirt stained with vomit. After that experience he studied obsessively his mother's collection of foraging books, so he would never starve in the wilderness again. Escaping Ukraine: Anatoly, Mariah, Gregor and Karin's village went mad from starvation after the rationing got extreme. Parents were sending their children to orphanages instead of starving at home. It was terrible. Eventually they decided that they needed to escape. So they stole supplies until they had enough for the journey. To keep their spirits up, Gregor described it as a 'vacation'. "You don't normally face death during a vacation though..." Trivia Despite not knowing how to read, he spends his time staring at book pages to make it look like he can. Karin doesn't buy it.
