Ariana joined Ultra Elite. Season 8 At Nationals, Ariana competes in the preliminary large group round, the 4-person small group, and the finals routine with Ultra Elite. Her team loses to A-Troupe in the finals. Season 9 Kenzie agrees to help Ultra Elite by providing them with rehearsal space much to both Grace and Ariana’s delight. Winnie who has since become dance captain of B-Troupe informs both Grace and Ariana that Kenzie has asked her to move a B-Trouper up to A-Troupe in order to take up Dylan’s former place on the team, to which the pair protest is unfair and argue that open auditions should be held in order to determine who takes up this spot.[3] After noticing that Kenzie is stressed, both Ariana and Grace provide her a self care gift of an hour at a spa in order to mess with the A-Troupe auditions. Ariana then watches Anthony choreograph in order to mess with him and promptly takes notes of Ebby, Izzy, Jett and Xander’s weaknesses in order to use to mess with them. Ariana confesses that she wants revenge on The Next Step Dance Studio as had her sister Presley have made the team, then she wouldn’t have pursued a career in acting in LA and in addition to this the two wouldn’t have lost contact with one another.[4] During the auditions for the new A-Troupe, Adele informs Ariana that she doesn’t need her advice on her timing or her technique as she’s no longer dance captain or head choreographer like she was back at Ultra Elite. When Anthony questions why she wanted to learn from him, if she had already been a head choreographer at Ultra Elite, she informs him that there’s always something that you can learn from your competition.[5] Grace informs Ariana of her plan to mess with Daisy and her solo as she believes that this will successfully mess with Heath and see two surefire spots on A-Troupe open up for both herself and Ariana to take advantage of. In doing so, Grace has Ariana hide Daisy’s Bo Staff in order for her to be left without a prop for her freestyle solo performance. This plan however is not flawless as Heath still makes A-Troupe whereas Daisy is cut therefore opening up one spot on the team which Ariana is the recipient of and meaning Grace has not made the final cut for the team alongside Ariana.[6] Ariana can sense that Jett is missing Xander and is vulnerable due to how she feels about him being cut from A-Troupe and intends to use this to get her cut from the team and her spot opened up for Grace to take up. Ariana has Jett show her, Adele, Olive and Niall to The Locker Room and Jett allows them to take whichever lockers are free. Ariana tells Niall that she believes he should take locker #12 as she knows that it was formerly Xander’s locker which results in Jett hurriedly leaving the locker room due to her reluctance to accept her new teammates due to the way that she feels about Xander being cut. Ariana is then able to get Jett under her influence to show animosity towards the trio due to Niall taking Xander’s old locker and his status as a former J-Trouper and Olive and Adele as she lied to her about the pair of them being weak dancers, before she challenges them to create a routine mirroring the last minute Nationals routine in Season 8, to prove to Jett that they belong on A-Troupe. Ariana notices how Jett is torn about the new dancers taking Xander’s spot on informs her that if she really wants to perform with him again she could always join B-Troupe, however she informs Ariana that she wouldn’t ever give up her spot on A-Troupe and how Xander would never forgive her if she did, so as such she was now even more determined to go to Internationals. After this plan fails, Ariana acts empathetic towards Jett as Presley never made A-Troupe and Grace never made A-Troupe, before stating how she believed those in charge didn’t believe talent and made heartless decisions when they cut talented dancers and manipulated Jett to redirect her anger towards Kenzie.[7] Ariana, Anthony, Jett and Niall are selected for the teams small group livestream challenge against sister studio L'Equipe Etoile. Kenzie presents her creative vision of the theme of the dance being going for Gold due to the determination of the team to become Internationals champions, before leaving to get directing tips from Lily. Ariana tells Jett that she thinks she can come up with a better creative vision compared to Kenzie’s. This results in Jett telling Ariana her idea of the routine consisting of a painting backdrop and the dancers being art. Ariana agrees to help her with this proposed new routine but asks her not to tell Anthony as she is new to the team and doesn’t want the credit nor any trouble that could come with tampering with the original vision behind the routine. When Jett presents her idea to Anthony, the routine is changed to her creative vision as every dancer in the routine believes it should be used. After it’s performed for Kenzie who dislikes the routine, Ariana tells Jett that if it’s changed back to the original concept for the routine then she should call Kenzie out on her egotistical behaviour by changing the concept back to her own, which Jett ultimately does and as is removed from the routine due to doing so.[8] Ariana begins to reflect on her actions after being responsible for getting Jett kicked off of the small group routine and begins to feel guilty. Ariana asks Grace if they need to do anything else now that she’s successfully gotten Jett off of the routine and proposes that she lays low during the first challenge. Grace disagrees with this and tells her that she needs to hit the team while they are off balance and mess up with the livestream challenge against L'Equipe Etoile by messing up a few moves and blame her mistakes on struggling with the new choreography for the routine. Grace watches the livestream challenge in Studio A to ensure that Ariana sticks to their plan, before leaving afterwards. Following the livestream challenge Ariana intends to tell Kenzie about her and Grace’s plan to sabotage A-Troupe’s chances of going to Internationals, however she is prevented when Kenzie gets a message that the bonus prize for the winner of the challenge was about to be announced in Studio A. When the French team select Kenzie as they’re exchange student, Ariana feels guilty as had she not messed up the choreography for the livestream routine, then the team could still have their dance captain and could have gotten to choose the exchange student for themselves.[9] Ariana re-assures Jett that while she’s aware that she is feeling guilty, letting things play over in her head won’t help her to feel any better. She tells Jett that she should perhaps try to apologise to Kenzie to which she agrees before telling her that she’ll go with her to support her. After Jett gains Kenzie’s forgiveness but still feels guilty for her actions, Ariana supports her with putting together an apology gift of flowers for Kenzie, however Heath tells the pair that Kenzie is actually allergic to flowers. Ariana later suggests the pair move Kenzie up to business class on her flight, before Jett asks her if she secretly won the lottery. Ariana tells Jett that she isn’t fully responsible for what happened before admitting she egged her on when she was getting mad at Kenzie. When asked why, she tells Jett that it was because she was new to the team and believed she was helping them to bond. Once Jett accuses her of making her turn against Kenzie, Ariana states that she didn’t make her do anything against her will as she was the one who lost her temper and got kicked off the dance, before Jett tells her that if she hadn’t have influenced her actions then she wouldn’t have done any of that. Ariana meets with Jett in Cha-Cha’s and apologises for how she provoked Jett with Kenzie. Jett apologises to Ariana for how she lost her temper with her. After the pair converse in Cha-Cha’s, Ariana gets a reminder from Grace to meet with her.[10] Ariana is informed by Olive that Nick requested that the pair of them and Adele choreograph the small group routine for Internationals. Ariana is reluctant to work with the pair on the routine due to the animosity between herself and Adele. Ariana confesses that when Presley left Ultra Elite that Grace understood how she felt and when she had to make big decisions she listened to her, however more recently began to regret her past actions in having doing so. Ariana agrees to choreographing the trio together on the condition that Adele also agrees, before Olive practically begs her to do so. Ariana compliments Adele on an aerial, before she questions why she thinks that could help the team win Internationals after making a dancer who could perform the aerial an alternate at Nationals. Adele also tells Ariana that she believes she did that and cut off her and Olive and made her an alternate at Nationals as she was under Grace’s influence. Olive calls both Ariana and Adele into The Locker Room and tells the pair to let go of their grudges with one another, as Adele could be in a featured routine at Internationals despite being an alternate at Nationals and Ariana could repair the trio’s broken friendship. Olive reminds the Ariana about how she was always there for her by giving Ariana her emergency tights when she got her period right before Regionals so that she could go on and perform, before stating how she wants to help the team win Internationals and the only way that she could show her she feels the same way is by putting the team first and meeting her in Studio 1 to show Nick their choreography. Ariana and Adele enter Studio 1 and the pair tell Olive that they are willing to put the past behind them for the sake of both the team and the routine.[11] Ariana is chastised by Grace for hanging out with Olive and Adele, before she lies and claims she was just being nice. Grace tells her that none of A-Troupe are her real friends and to remember how they turned on both herself and Presley. When asked by Grace what they were talking about with Olive and Adele, Ariana lies and states that she was attempting to turn them against one another as that could cause everyone on A-Troupe to pick sides in the conflict and get mad at one another due to it. When she later attempts to back out of Grace’s plan to prevent The Next Step from going to Internationals under the guise of the teams friendship being too strong and their bond being unbreakable alongside the difficulty enacting their plan with Eldon present, Grace challenges Ariana to become dance captain in Kenzie’s absence in order to usurp full control of the team. Grace tells Ariana that she needs to ensure she’s picked as the new dance captain by telling Eldon that she wants to be considered for the dance captaincy due to her past experience as dance captain at Ultra Elite.[12] Ariana confesses that she believes that on paper she’d be the perfect choice for the dance captaincy, however she doesn’t think that her winning would be beneficial for the team. Ariana states that she thinks she’s probably the only person in the battle who doesn’t want to become dance captain, however with Grace watching she feels as if she has no choice but to compete in the Battle Royale. Ariana, Adele, Anthony, Heath and Izzy are announced as the Top five. Ariana, Anthony and Izzy are announced as the Top three. Ariana choreographs a trio that is performed by Ebby, Jett and Olive. Jett, Niall, Ebby and Olive all vote for Ariana, therefore making her dance captain. Ariana opens a letter from Internationals and reads it, only to discover a change surrounding the alternate rules which means she must cut one dancer from A-Troupe as Internationals are now only allowing eleven dancers per team with one alternate and it is her responsibility to send the reduced roster for the team as soon as possible.[13] Personality Ariana is initially introduced as Grace's minion who will do whatever Grace says. This is later proven true when she infiltrates A-Troupe to take down The Next Step, as opposed to wanting to go to Internationals. However, after spending more time with the A-Troupers, namely Jett, Kenzie and later Olive and Adele, Ariana comes to want to stop doing what Grace says and become one with the dancers. However, despite her change of heart, she continues to work on her plan with Grace to bring down The Next Step because Grace knows all her secrets and could therefore tell A-Troupe what Ariana has done. Physical Appearance Characteristics Ariana has light skin, long blonde hair, and brown eyes. She is tall and slim. Attire When dancing, Ariana wears a pink crop top and matching skort or a looser pink top and a black skort. Abilities Dancing Acro: Acro is Ariana's dominant style and she is incredibly proficient in it. Kenzie compares her dancing to Presley's and remarks that Ariana's dancing will help elevate A-Troupe at Internationals.[2] Trivia Ariana and Presley are the fourth pair of in-show siblings to be portrayed by real life siblings, following Becca and Gabi, Cierra and Skylar, and Jacquie and Davis. Ariana’s locker number is number 6. Ariana shares with Amanda the distinction of serving as dance captain for both The Next Step and an iteration of Elite. Indeed, they both achieve this after the previous Dance Captain has been displaced as a result of their schemes.
