The Ottoman Empire provides the political backdrop for the events of Assassin's Creed Revelations. Constantinople is its imperial capital and contains a mixture of Ottoman Turks, Greeks, Armenians, Europeans, merchants, soldiers, scholars, sailors, and travelers. The Ottoman Brotherhood generally operates alongside the Empire rather than openly serving it. The Assassins oppose the Byzantine Templars because their plans threaten the city's stability and the freedom of its people. Ezio's relationship with Prince Suleiman allows the Brotherhood to cooperate with elements of the Ottoman political establishment without becoming servants of the state.
